Proven executive will expand the innovative organization’s development strategies in support of mission to improve health outcomes and quality of life
BOSTON, MA, May 3, 2016 – Erin Gilbert has been named the Chief Advancement Officer of Unitio, Inc., a nonprofit organization who unites those affected by disease with those dedicated to accelerating better care and improved treatments. Gilbert will oversee the organization’s fundraising efforts and will also lead the creation of an integrated strategy to establish new relationships that will support long-term sustainability for Unitio and its first program, T1D Exchange, which is driving better, faster research to improve outcomes in type 1 diabetes (T1D).
This addition to the organization’s leadership team comes as Unitio’s T1D Exchange program is making a real and measurable difference in driving better, faster research to improve care and speed development of new therapies for people and families living with type 1 diabetes. Additionally, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society recently launched Unitio’s CARE (Community Application for Research and Engagement) platform to bring together those affected by blood cancers to share real world experiences and contribute to vital research.
In her role Gilbert will support CEO Dana Ball and Unitio’s Board of Directors in cultivating and soliciting major gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, and others. She will also be responsible for supporting existing T1D Exchange relationships as well as identifying key opportunities to expand the organization’s visibility and general awareness in type 1 diabetes and other disease groups.
“Erin is a well-rounded and polished executive with a solid record of accomplishment in strategy and managing portfolios,” said Ball, who also serves as the Executive Director of T1D Exchange. “Her drive, professionalism, and experience in building deep-rooted relationships make her an outstanding complement to our executive team. She will strengthen our ability to pursue our organizational goals—improving care and accelerating new therapies on the path to cures.”
Gilbert joins Unitio after a series of successful funding and consulting positions in the non-profit and healthcare arena. Most recently, she was Senior Development Officer at Partners In Health, where she lead the Major Gifts team in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors by guiding strategy and operation of outreach and proposals. Prior to that, she served as the Vice President for Development, The Olana Partnership (TOP).
“Being a part of the Unitio team is an exciting new challenge that will leverage my strengths and experiences,” said Gilbert. “It’s an exciting organization that has created a research and development acceleration platform that connects researchers, healthcare professionals, industry, and patients to designed to improve care and speed delivery of new therapies. I am excited to join the team and help build long-term sustainability for this innovative organization.”
Unitio was founded on the premise that finding faster, better therapies for disease requires an innovative, patient-centric, approach as multi-faceted as disease itself. Unitio offers consulting and platform development services to organizations who want to connect researchers, physicians, and patients battling acute and chronic diseases in ways that facilitate discoveries, accelerate treatments and therapies, and improve patient outcomes.
